Yesterday, me and two workmates hopped in the car and drove from 5th ave and 53rd to Williamsburg... except that we didn't quite make it there, at least not all of us.
Because of Obama's presence in the city, we kept hitting Police Road blocks and so we had to give up trying to get on the Williamsburg Bridge...Instead we will go under, or I will go under. The driver and his co-pilot grew tired of this mess so they dropped me off at the subway station.
After almost two hours I finally made it there except that my friend who was waiting for me for the last hour and a half had to leave so we saw each other very briefly...
From there I spent another two hours at the Knitting Factory for the Launch Party of Radar Season III, a web-series hosted by Babelgum, the company I have been working at for almost a year now.

It was the first time that I have been to Williamsburg and it was too short to see anything unfortunately... So I'll have to go back and spend some more time in this neighborhood to finally get to know it.

For those who are curious, here's an episode from Radar Season III (and HERE's the link to the other seasons)

Movie night with Christy

Last Friday, the 3 of us went for sushi and headed to the movie theater to see Inception. This was Christy's last night with us and she had to experience a movie in the States!
The theater was almost full since it was the opening day of the movie. The movie was awesome, great plot, Christopher Nolan, director of The Dark Night, is amazing. The actors were great. It was a change to see Joseph Gordon-Lewitt in this kind of role as we remembered him form (500) Days of Summer with his cute face and nice-acting. Here it was totally different and I think he was awesome in this cynical-strong very cute guy! All the actors were good, DiCaprio has grown into a very good actor, Ellen Page was ok, can't really say much about her as I only saw her in Juno and Marion Cotillard was very good, I was disappointed with her in Public Enemies but not after Inception.
Anyway, it was a good movie, Christy got the round of applause at the end which I am not sure would have happened in France - would have?

Saturday, it was time for packing... 3 weeks flew by and we had to take her back to the airport for her flight. We had a great time together even if she did a lot of visits on her own! Come again next year sis'!!!

Sisters night!

Last week, Choup was in San Francisco for the Semicon - he goes every year and last year I joined him at the end of the week to spend 4 days in S.F, you can read all about it here. Anyway, while he was away Christy and I spent our last week together. She enjoyed her last few days in Manhattan, did the Circle Line, went to the U.N. and I took her to a Broadway Show: Mamma Mia!

The show was awesome, funny and very entertaining! After we walked down to Times Square where it was really crowded! She took some pictures and then she had to try the cheesecake! So I took her to Junior's and she ate her slice and thought it was delicious! A new Cheesecake fan in the family ;-)

We got surprised by the rain and had to rush to the train station but we had a great evening together!

The High Line

After Coney Island and the Brooklyn Bridge, we took the A train up to 14th Street and walked from the 8th to the 10th Avenue to visit the High Line. After reading Dolce's post on the subject, I really wanted to go see it and so we finally did!

In the midst of the rain, we walked up 10 blocks on the High Line and thought the work done by the Friends of the High Line was amazing and a great idea. I invite you to look at their official website and watch the video below presented by Edward Norton when the Association started building the High Line park:

Brooklyn Bridge

After our quick tour of Coney Island, we took the F train to York Street, the last stop in Brooklyn before Manhattan and walked over to the Brooklyn Bridge.

A little bit of info about the New York Bridges history can be found here.

Coney Island

Last Sunday, we took the 11am train and went to Coney Island. After less than an hour on the Q train we arrived and looked for a place to lunch. We stopped at Surf and Turf which was empty compared to all the Nathan's and other fast food on the other side of the street.

From Penn Station to the last stop / De NY Penn Station au dernier arrêt

Last stop, everybody out! / Dernier arrêt tout le monde descend!

The NY Aquarium is in Coney Island and we really need to make it there one day. There's also an amusement park and for the first time we did the big wonder wheel which was amazing but too short. As for the beach, you can definitely lay down in the sand but there are no waves like the ones in Jersey!
If you want to get more information, you can check out the official Coney Island web site.

The Empire State Building

While Choup was in Germany last week, Christy and I went to the 230 Fifth Rooftop Bar to enjoy a pear juice (for the kids) and a beer.

Then we walked up 10 blocks and stopped by a shop where they were selling 40 postcards for 99cts ($1.08 with tax), Christy picked her cards and I added 10 cards for me to help her get to the 40 cards!

We went up to the Empire State Building where the lines were shorts but not if you had to buy tickets though, which is why I bought mine online before, Christy had her City Pass. Once up there, it was a fight for the best spot, people are so annoying at the Empire State, it makes you want to kick them out! The view is great but having that many people, you don't enjoy it... anyway we took good pictures so it was worth fighting for good spots.
